About the Role
To help us provide a high-quality, reliable and professional set of software-based services to our clients and staff, we have created a new role for an enthusiastic and talented Software  Developer-in-Test/Quality Assurance Engineer who has already gained 3 or 4 years’ experience building and maintaining Automated Testing Environments for ASP.NET MVC and WPF solutions and who will work hand-in-hand with Developers to ensure BDD principles are followed using SpecFlow and related technologies/methodologies.

Hours Per Week 08:30 to 17:00 +/- 1hr flexi-time (7.5 hrs/d, 37.5 hrs/w) however, it is expected that you may need to perform some tasks out-of-hours in order to avoid disruption to clients and staff during normal business hours.
Job Status Permanent
Reporting to You will work alongside a small team of developers, under the supervision of the Head of IT, but may also take instruction from various Heads of Department, including the Head of Operations.

Essential Key Skills 
·         BDD and Automated UAT with SpecFlow, Gherkin ·         TDD with NUnit or similar testing Framework
·         Spoken & Written English to CEF level C1 or above ·         Mocking techniques using Moq or similar
·         Web Application Testing using Selenium or similar ·         WPF Application Testing using White or similar
·         Client-side JavaScript testing frameworks ·         Testing WebAPI, REST Services
·         Continuous Build using TFS ·         Continuous Deployment using Octopus
·         Agile/Scrum with TFS ·         Source control with GIT
·         Managing Dev, Test and Live configurations ·         SOLID, IoC, DI (Ninject or similar)
 Desirable Skills 
·         Familiarity with C#, WPF, MVVM ·         Familiarity with C#, ASP.NET MVC, Linq
·         Familiarity with EF6, Linq to SQL, AutoMapper ·         Familiarity with SQL Server Development
 Key Responsibilities  Performance management 
Build and Maintain Testing Framework
  • To help build and maintain an Automated Testing Framework for all software developed in house.
  • To develop thorough test plans and test routines using good principles of TDD and/or BDD using SpecFlow, NUnit and any related/relevant libraries and technologies.
  • To maintain a suite of tests that exhibit a high-degree of code-coverage.
  • To maintain a suite of data for testing, including build-up and tear-down scripts.
  • To utilise TFS and GIT to maintain good version control of the software testing assets.
  • To maintain proper software testing documentation.
Desktop and Web Application Testing
  • To develop integration, unit and regression tests for new and existing features of bespoke client-facing and in-house software systems according to the written requirements specifications and in-line with SOLID software development principles.
  • To provide feedback and status updates on the progress of the quality assurance process for each software requirement.
  • To ensure that the solutions developed meet the software requirements, company’s needs, and regulatory requirements.
Teamwork and other
  • To communicate and work with management and software developers to ensure good TDD/BDD principles are followed.
  • To work closely with the BA and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • To give feedback to developers on how software can be refactored to facilitate testing.
  • To lend a hand in development tasks if required.
  • To aid in the development of software user guides written/online if required.
Issue Investigation, Evaluation and Resolution/Escalation
  • To investigate and resolve issues with the software reported by users.
  • To maintain a list of bugs and the status of each bug’s resolution.

  • You will be required to acquire and maintain new skills that contribute towards your understanding of evolving technology applicable to the work environment.
  • You will be required to maintain your knowledge and understanding of Financial and Data Protection Laws and Regulations.
