We have chosen Valentine’s day to announce that we will be supporting The British Heart Foundation as our official company charity. This is to remember our friend and colleague Nick ‘The Vicar’ Bealer.

About Nick
Chairman of the Stock Exchange Veteran’s Charity, a SIMA (Securities Industry Management Association) member, he started out in the late 1970’s as a jobber on the floor of the stock exchange where he spent 5 years at Wedd Durlacher.
As a religious man he was always keen to help spread the word and spent 2 years volunteering for an educational charity trust on board a ship named Logos (meaning ‘the Word’). He would travel around Central and South America, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. This is where he developed his nickname, “The Vicar”.
On his return, he worked for Teather & Greenwood, Muirpace, City Deal Services and Knight Securities before yet more volunteer work on the ship. He finished his career as the Head of Corporate broking at Cornhill Capital and his son Greg currently works here at Cornhill International Payments.
British Heart Foundation
“From funding life-saving research, to campaigning for those affected by heart and circulatory diseases, your donations change lives”.
Research has given us machines that can restart hearts, the ability to fix arteries in tiny babies, the power to give someone a heart they weren’t born with, and so much more. Heart and circulatory diseases still kill 1 in 4 in the UK and that’s why the BHF’s work is as urgent and vital as ever.
“Research is who we are; the promise of future preventions, treatments and cures. People’s donations have got us this far and every breakthrough we’ve made is funded by people like you”.

What will Cornhill be doing to raise money?
We will be organising several events and projects throughout the year which we will post on our social media pages. If you want to support these efforts or donate directly please email info@cornhillfx.com .
Put yourself first
It isn’t just about donating time or money. We will also be sharing some ideas for everyone to look after their own heart! Prevention is always better than cure and it’s free.

We are all so busy it is easy to forget that some very simple changes could make a big difference. Take the stairs today (we are on the 4th floor so we have our work cut out!). Think about your lunch choices but be careful – it was revealed today that a vegan burger could be less heart healthy than 2 Big Macs (many vegan patties are laden with coconut oil rich in saturated fat).
If you are in London, seek out a healthy fast food outlet.
