An historic week ahead as the 46th president of the United States of America, Joe Biden, will be inaugurated in Washington on Wednesday. The European Central Bank will also be in focus this week as they make their first announcement of 2021.
President Trump is coming to the end of his 4-year term, no doubt it will not be ending how he planned, however with a couple of days left, he still has time to make changes. It’s rumoured that the president has a fresh list of over 100 pardons which he will enact over the next 48 hours. This will likely be the last act of a president who will remain in the spotlight after his term ends for all the wrong reasons.
Joe Biden will be inaugurated on Wednesday. It’s expected one of his first appointees will be a familiar name to many of our longer-term readers. Janet Yellen, the Fed chairwoman from 2014 – 2018, is due to be appointed as the first-ever female treasury secretary.
Elsewhere, the ECB will hold their first meeting and announcement of 2021. No changes are expected despite new virus strains and lockdowns taking over the region. Also, January flash PMIs will be on tape later this week.
